What is a paraffin manicure?

A paraffin manicure, also known as aparaffin wax manicure, is a luxurious and moisturizing spa treatment thatcombines traditional manicure techniques with the therapeutic benefits ofparaffin wax. This type of manicure is designed to deeply hydrate and softenthe skin, leaving your hands feeling rejuvenated and looking smoother.
Here's how a paraffin manicure is typically performed:
1.      Preparation: The nail technician starts by cleaning and
shaping your nails, pushing back your cuticles, and exfoliating your hands to remove dead skin cells.
2.      Paraffin Wax Preparation: A block of paraffin wax is melted in a special paraffin wax heater or bath until it reaches a comfortable temperature.
The wax is usually scented with essential oils for a pleasant aroma and enhanced relaxation.
3.      Application of Oil or Lotion: Before dipping your hands into the paraffin wax, a moisturizing oil or lotion may be applied to your hands and cuticles to provide an additional layer of hydration.
4.      Dipping Process: Your hands are gently dipped into the warm, liquid paraffin wax several times to create multiple layers. Each layer of wax forms a protective barrier that helps to seal in moisture and nourishment.
5.      Wrapping: Once enough layers have been applied, your hands are wrapped in plastic or a special paraffin mitt to retain heat and allow the wax to penetrate deeply.
6.      Rest and Relaxation: You're then encouraged to relax for about 10-15 minutes while the wax cools and solidifies. During this time, the warmth of the wax promotes blood circulation, allowing the moisturizing properties to be absorbed by the skin.
7.      Removal: After the wax has set, the nail technician
gently removes the paraffin from your hands, revealing softer, smoother skin. The wax can easily be peeled off, and any remaining residue can be wiped away.
8.      Final Steps: The nail technician may proceed with the
rest of the manicure, including shaping, buffing, and polishing your nails. Cuticle oil and a moisturizing hand cream are often applied for a finishing touch.
